Number Series: Find the Jump

How it works
👀 What's going on?
Ria drops 5 rupees in her money box every day. Day by day it holds 5, then 10, then 15. She never has to open the box to know tomorrow's total, because the jump already tells her.
💡 Here's the trick
Look at the numbers above. Under every pair sits the same jump, +5. When every jump is the same, the rule is simply add that jump. Name the jump and the next number is one small sum away.
- 1.Look at the first two numbers and find the jump between them.
- 2.Check that the same jump works for the next pair too.
- 3.Add the jump to the last number given.
✍️ Try it
- 1.3, 6, 9, 12, ?
- 2.20, 30, 40, 50, ? Series 1 jumps by 3 each time, so the next number is 12 + 3 = 15. Series 2 jumps by 10, so the next number is 50 + 10 = 60.
⚠️ Watch out
Check a second jump before you decide. If you glance at only the first pair you can name the wrong rule. Two matching jumps make the rule safe.
