How it works
👀 What's going on?
Buy two things, then work out your change, and you have already done a two-step problem without blinking. The trick is to do the steps in order and not stop after the first one.
💡 Here's the trick
Look at the story above. It needs two calculations, and the answer to the first feeds into the second. Do step one, hold its answer, then do step two.
- 1.Work out what the first step is and solve it.
- 2.Keep that answer.
- 3.Use it in the second step to reach the final answer.
✍️ Try it
Riya buys a pen for ₹12 and a book for ₹25, and pays with ₹50. What change does she get? Step one: 12 + 25 = 37. Step two: 50 − 37 = ₹13.
⚠️ Watch out
Do not stop after the first step. 12 + 25 = 37 is only halfway — the question asked for the change, so you still have to subtract from 50.
