How it works

👀 What's going on?

A week always has seven days, and it never changes its order. That steady rhythm lets you jump from one day to another, or from one date to the next same-day, without a calendar in front of you.

💡 Here's the trick

Look at the problem above. Because a week is 7 days long, the same day comes round again every 7 days. So dates 7 apart share a day, and you can count days forward around the week.

  1. 1.Note the day or date you are given.
  2. 2.Count forward the number of days asked (or add 7 for the next same-day).
  3. 3.Wrap around the week if you pass Sunday.

✍️ Try it

The 1st of a month is a Monday. What day is the 8th? The 8th is 7 days after the 1st, and 7 days later is the same day, so the 8th is also Monday.

⚠️ Watch out

After Sunday, the week starts again at Monday. When you count forward past the weekend, loop back to the start of the week.
