Figure Analogies: Copy the Change

Name the change in the first picture pair, then make the same change happen to the third.
Copy the one change from the first pair: a turn, a flip or an added part.
How it works
👀 What's going on?
An analogy can be drawn as pictures instead of words. This shape is to that one as a third shape is to what? The two pairs share one change you can see.
💡 Here's the trick
Look at the arrows above. The first points up and the second points right, which is a quarter-turn clockwise. A figure analogy hides one change: a turn, a mirror flip, or an added part. Name that change, then make the very same change to the third picture.
🪄 How to do it
- 1.Look at the picture above and say the change from the first shape to the second out loud.
- 2.Check that nothing else changed, so you have one clear rule.
- 3.Make that same change to the third picture and pick the match.
✍️ Try it
First: an arrow pointing right becomes an arrow pointing down, so an arrow pointing up becomes what? Then: a triangle with 1 dot becomes 2 dots, so a square with 3 dots becomes what? Name each change first.
The first change is a quarter-turn clockwise, so the up arrow points right. The second change is add one dot, so the square now has 4 dots. Naming the change stops you copying the wrong thing.
⚠️ Watch out
You might pick a box that changes two things at once. The right answer copies only the single change from the first pair. A turned shape and a flipped shape can look alike, so picture the move before you choose.
