One fold makes a mirror.
How it works
👀 What's going on?
Fold a piece of paper in half, punch one hole, then open it up — suddenly there are TWO holes! The fold works like a mirror: whatever you punch on one side appears on the other side too.
💡 Here's the trick
When paper is folded once and you punch a hole, opening it makes the hole appear on BOTH sides of the fold line, like a reflection. One punch becomes two holes; two punches become four.
- 1.Find the fold line (the dashed crease).
- 2.For each hole, imagine a matching hole the same distance away on the other side.
- 3.Count: one fold doubles the holes.
✍️ Try it
A square is folded left over right and one hole is punched near the right edge. Opened up, there is a hole on the right AND one on the left at the same height.
⚠️ Watch out
The new hole is a mirror, not a copy in the same spot — it sits the same distance from the fold on the opposite side, not right next to the first hole.
